The thing is this: Sure, we'd all like to (I would) see more pressure from the outside. But it's not like there's none.

Our 3 down linemen provide good pressure up the middle, and that is what gives QBs the most trouble.
I suspect as our young guys develop this year, the outside rush will get incrementally better.

But considering who we play in our division, and the increase in mobile/running QBs, the best combo is a controlled outside rush that keeps the QB in the pocket, and a strong rush on the interior to get in his face.

Outside rushers that get deep against running QBs are dead meat and it leads to big plays. Pressure is needed to not allow the QB too much time; but it's the kind of controlled pressure that's important.

We also have to keep in mind that McVay wants a much better performance of the D against the run. And so it again helps to have a controlled rush to help keep gap integrity.
