I don't know how (or why) so many professional writers keep getting this wrong, but the $175M announcement made by the league is the floor for 2021, not the cap. In reality the cap is probably going to go up next year. I guess it does give them something to write about, but it ends up being hand-wringing for no reason other than to get a few clicks.
