No, I don't think you can make a generalized statement like that, the primary skillsets you look for in a LT vs. a RG are different. Boom has some of the best feet of any of the linemen on the Rams. Assuming you have all of the requisite physical and mental traits, T is about feet and balance, and G is about initial quickness and power. Yes, his skillset is better at T, no doubt. When he was in for Whit the year before last, he actually graded out quite well.
Does he still have to prove his worth? Of course. They all have to do that every practice/game/season. The reality he is not even close to 100% physically right now; he is way ahead of the norm as far as number of months recovery for that injury. Next season you will hear him say "I feel light years better than I did last season" or something like that.
Point being is that he is a very good prospect, particularly at T. Posts/opinions that are simply dismissive ("he'll never be any good", "he's a JAG", etc.) are just lazy and extremely short-sighted and obviously not held by anyone knowledgeable or in charge, if they were he'd be on the the bench. Instead he took over as starting LG in camp after Edwards started there, way before anyone thought he'd be physically ready. Give the guy some credit and see what the coaches see.
