When Ellard retired he was top 5 all-time in receptions and yards. And among players with 700+ receptions he is
still 2nd only to James Lofton (who's in the HOF).
I think after declining production in 1991-93 (mainly because the Rams as a team nosedived) the fact that he rebounded with three straight very good seasons in Washington (1994-96) cemented him.
Jackson may very well get in someday. I think as time goes on people will appreciate more what he did. But I just think comparatively Ellard should be the absolute lock. Thinking about it he's past due actually.
