I think that they let JJ walk, let Rapp/Fuller take over the back end. They are just crazy loaded in that DB area(s). Redo Robert next season....2-3 year deal......With the issues with the cap next season it's a real blessing we are choosing so well in the areas of the draft....gives us an upper hand in choosing who to keep/who to work with.
They definitely can't pay everybody, and given the young talent they'll have nurtured at safety it makes sense that JJ should be oen they don't retain.It's also true that suddenly he's the vet. After him we have some talents 1st and 2nd-year players. It'd be pretty risky to rely altogether on them IMO.
That said, while comp pix are definitely valuable in the hands of McSnead, how about a sign-n-trade for a 2nd-rounder for JJ? Rough to see the Rams develop young talent and watch them walk for only comp pix.
