As far as the Safety groupings:
Rapp is going to play. He is just getting up to speed yet. He will be fine and as the safety group gets up to speed, we are going to see more "Big nickel" packages with 3 Safeties (esp with teams with elite TEs) As I have said in the past, NE used big nickel the most in 2018 and we all know McVay saw that up close and personal and is also friends with Belicheat, so even though we saw Big Nickel 15% yesterday. We will see more.
Again, Rapp is a 2nd rounder and Burgess is a 3rd rounder. These guys will play. And they are all movable chess pcs. JJ3, Rapp and Fuller can play in the box as well as left and right S, and Burgess can play left, right and slot. Also fearless in the box.
One thing to note, Kiser, Ramsey and JJ3 played 100% of the D snaps. I don't think JJ3 is going anywhere.
As far as ILBers, the Rams ran 2 ILBers on about 50% of the snaps. And I truly think that's about the most you will see this year, respecting Eliott. Maybe against the Giants.
As far as Staley:
The Rams will be disguising coverages and blitzes all year. Thats what McVay wants.
The other thing that McVay wanted is a DC that will adapt to the opponent week to week. So just because we saw 89% 3 CB nickel this week, doesn't mean we won't see something completely different next week. Or the amount of blitzes, or man vs zone coverage. The defense will look different week to week. Which IMO is a welcome change from Wade's here it is, this is what we do defense week in and week out.
