I get it. I know we've been over this a thousand times but the mask's primary purpose is to prevent you from spreading a virus to someone else. Assume your Barber is infected from a friend, neighbor, whatever. He has his hands and instruments all over your head. You don't know if he sanitizing those tools after each use. It doesn't matter if he's wearing a mask or that he has no symptoms. Given the close quarters its simply too easy for his virus to pass on to you and then you either get sick or pass it on to someone who does. Because of this my wife is becoming quite a good barber.
There comes a point of diminishing returns when it comes to these Covid safety protocols as related to barbers and cosmetologists.
Example: My wife makes an appt with her hairdresser. Hairdresser only books known previous customers, btw.
Then calls inside upon wife’s arrival.
When hairdresser is finished with previous customer and after cleaning up, including spray disinfectant and hand sanitizer, she calls my wife who has been waiting in the car.
Hairdresser unlocks shop door and admits my wife, relocking front door.
Both my wife and hairdresser are wearing masks.
Both my wife and hairdresser are asymptotmatic, of course.
After finishing, my wife pays with credit card and hairdresser walks her to front door, unlocking then re-locking it after departure.
Whole thing typically takes 15-20 minutes or less because it’s just a haircut.
This occurs once a month.
This has to be done on the down-low because Governor Newsome, in his infinite wisdom, has not seen fit to lift the restrictions in any way. I imagine this is occurring all over California because I seriously doubt that 40M people are getting home haircuts OR doing without haircuts at all for 6 full months.
The above safety precautions seem more than adequate to me. Sigh...
