There is no data set for the season yet to compare it to other off-seasons. It's all just conjecture. Guys have torn an acl in off-season workouts many times. Or camp. Or pre-season.
If anything, the way they are ramping up should protect the players - it seems more likely for soft tissue injuries in the first few weeks of the season as contact will be limited before then.
