I do expect things from him. I still think it's a good signing. I think he will be useful when he gets it back together.
I agree completely about the conditioning. But in terms of being out of shape--here's a naturally big guy (listed at 330) who had no official off-season conditioning and workout program and no OTAs, which is when teams usually spot these things. So they take the safe route and make sure he conditions and gets into shape before they let him hit the field.
But when he's back it he will be good. Plus, if Gaines can step up, and Joseph-Day and Brockers continue in their roles as solid "no glory" big guys, that will be one solid DL. One that also features Aaron Donald.
