There are definitely things to like about Van in terms of route running and hands I totally agree on that. And those are very important attributes for a WR perhaps the most important. Speed to me is a bonus for a WR as slower receivers can still have success. With all the tools he possesses of elite route running and hands he still struggles to stand out to me. Would you be surprised that it took Van 4 years and the last game of his career to record a single game with 100 yd receiving. Also in his best season he averaged less than 4 catches a game. The numbers don't add up on this guy from a production standpoint. If he is open all day it doesn't show up on paper. Hopefully I'm totally wrong about this guy as I would like to see him play well for us I'm just concerned.
Yes it does bring the questions into light and makes them hard to ignore. I think there has to be context to the answers. With Cam Akers the premise is the offense was lousy, so is that the case with Van? (rhetorical)....
It is possible that someone can have a high performance car and not know how to drive it or $10K gaming computer for checking Email and Facebook. I guess that answer could be they just didn't game plan him in more. I also think it extends beyond Van to Cam and Lewis
I think the concerns are legitimate for Cam, Van, and Terrell Lewis. Most understand Lewis...the injuries were the issue, but what if he comes in and is injured yet again. Does he become a wasted pick?
