Basically you're projecting if he can maintain and contribute at a high level while you give him millions of dollars. My guess is, the Rams didn't think so and, because they needed a WR, they went with someone else.
I think D.Jackson has more than amply proved he's not worth the hassle. Just IMHO.
Avery meanwhile is another in a long line of Rams deep threat receivers who did not pan out. Kennison, Avery, Givens. Actually at the time, according to Softli, Devaney did not want to take Avery and Zygmunt shut him down on it.
Meanwhile the 2nd round in 2008 also produced Jordy Nelson, Matt Forte, and Calais Campbell. Nelson woulda been nice regardless of the speed factor, Forte would have been a great compliment to Jackson, and any defense would be better with Campbell.
