They didn't trade for him for a one year rental in hopes to get the picks back.... they traded for him because the best corner in football was somehow available for trade.
They plan on paying him and it is why they took the hits now of dumping Cooks and Gurley to help free up cap space in 2021 to do so.
The plan is to pair the best corner and best DT to hopefully make for one of the best defenses in the NFL.
No way would we have gotten a corner like Ramsey with the 20th pick in this years draft so giving up our first pick in the draft next year is worth it imo
