I thought when we traded for Ramsey that it was a deal that we could turn back into two first round picks again baring a major injury. So we traded two first, this years and next and also next years 4th.
Ramsey will likely be the highest paid CB in the league when he signs his next contract, and this couple with what we are already paying AD and JG may be to much top end salary for us to try and carry. Also we are currently over the cap before officially signing Floyd and also needing to have space to draft players. Trading Ramsey would save us 13.7 million on our 2020 cap if the numbers I am getting from overthecap site is correct. Lastly this would save us moving current cap to future years by redoing AD or JG contracts pushing cap numbers forward or weakening another position by making a cut or trade. I have heard Rob Havenstein name tossed around as a possible trade or cut.
I am interested in watching this over the next few days, and admittedly am probably going to be wrong on this. But recouping our draft picks and cap space on top of allowing us to have more cap flexibility for some of our future big name contract coming up may make this one of our best options.
When we made the trade I felt we could get the picks back this off-season, and draft day is the day to make big trades.
