Because it's a joke, you could do with with every QB and look for dropped INT's they happen almost every game with every QB... what's the point? Like I said is that some sort of new stat? How bout the INT's that bounce of a WR's hands? Should they start giving those to the receivers?

I agree that you could do this with every QB. What you're essentially saying is that we need context.
The site this metric apparently came from is called QB Data Mine which implies they're compiling a ton of data on all the QBs. If someone was calculating Near INTs for every QB, then the metric would be telling and helpful.
What we would want to know is, how does Goff's 20 Near INTs compare with the rest of the QBs in the league.
Without that context it's a joke as you state; but with that context the metric is very helpful.
Yes, but it's not an official stat for a reason...typically those go down as PBU's because if the defense players could catch the ball they'd be on offense

We all know Goff didn't play well last year, but he was far from alone.... he had one of the worst pass blocking lines in the league for much of the year
Football Outsider and PFF also don't have official metrics but they both produce very helpful info that NFL teams even subscribe to. Same for Next Gen technology. Further, most teams now have analytics departments that are compiling hundreds of metrics that aren't official.
IOW, something not being an official stat doesn't mean the data isn't very useful and informative.
Whether the defensive player caught the ball or not is not important for this particular metric since it's measuring whether the QB threw a good pass independent of other players' actions.
You are correct, but like you said, put it in context. Goff was one of the most pressured QB's in NFL in 2019.... it's not like he's sitting in a clean pocket making most of those throws.
Like I said, it's no secret Goff regressed last year from his top 5 form of 2017-2018, but there are a multitude of reasons for it. Goff didn't just roll out of bed and forget how to play QB
Doesn't mean he can't be better or that none of it was his fault either, but we've all seen what he can do with a healthy run game and better pass protection
Lets all just hope they can get back to that collectively as a team in 2020....I think we will
