Yes it's a serious disease. But it's not Ebola or the plague.
It's actually more infectious than ebola and may be more infectious than the plague.
And just as deadly to those who are the most vulnerable.
...
It may be more infectious, but nowhere near as deadly as the plague (killed over 100,000,000) some within hours or Ebola that had a death rate of about 50%
They didn't need qualifiers
Ebola is very hard to actually get.
And the plague still exists--it's just that modern medicine can control it.
How are they different from covid-19?
It's easier to get and to transmit, partly because you can transmit it without showing symptoms. And you don't show symptoms for several days.
It therefore spreads really far.
The population is much denser now than it was in the time of the plague. So it spreads faster and further.
AND right now, unlike today with the plague, there are no controls for it.
What's the danger then?
Overwhelmed medical facilities that cannot handle the numbers of the very sick, who need ICU care and ventilators.
That means potentially, if unchecked through things like quarantine and social distancing etc, it kills hundreds of thousands--and not just the people who are infected. Under the emergency conditions of overwhelmed medical facilities, patients who need care for other things (such as cancer) or need surgeries, get shut out and are put at risk too.
