Some pundits have speculated that neither Brees nor Brady could still throw the deep ball to take full advantage of Cooks’ blazing speed, thus the two trades. The theory does make sense.
I played in a 40-year high school reunion flag football game and worked out for about 2 months to prepare. I could still throw the ball 50 yards so those guys can do it.
The big problem with the reunion game however was that we didn't have many 60 year-old guys who could run 50 yards. And those that could, had a hard time swiveling their old guy necks to see where the ball was coming from!
In fact, you haven't really lived until you sit back in the pocket and watch 8 60 year-olds go out for a pass and 8 other 60 year-olds cover them and try to time their routes, anticipate where they are going to be and then get the ball to them. And 80% of them can't run and turn their heads at the same time. I was trying not to laugh! Lot of fun though!
