Honestly, this seems mostly a stereotype that I haven't found to be true. I live in Northern California and surrounded by 9ers fans.
I haven't found them to be remotely close to vapid or air-headed and not pretentious either. I think this is just a case of people forming stereotypical beliefs that lack substance and which truthfully only make the holder of the beliefs look bad.
But I wasn't talking about SF fans with that point. The Rams seem to be embracing the "Hollywood" persona in it's worst ways.
