Essential services won't stay shut down, but we may be a ways off from a complete return to normal for restaurants, night clubs, bars, and other non-essential facilities and industries. Even institutions of higher learning are planning for remote education to continue through the summer. If you give real and thoughtful consideration to what the safety measures are trying to achieve, the trade off for a temporary dip in the economy seems unquestionably worthwhile.
All due respect, but ‘a temporary dip in the economy’ is world class understatement, Classical.
We are headed for Depression level unemployment, man. Untold bankruptcies and millions of jobs lost.
At what point do (or did) we pass the point of costs exceeding benefits? The Covid-19 wave will shortly pass, one way or another. But the economy will take many months if not years to fully recover and will affect all 330M of us during that long painful time. Sigh...
