I would argue the engine of McVay's offense is not a RB but a quality OL. As great as Gurley was in 2017 and 2018 what they need to get back to is a much higher quality OL. Without that who you have in the backfield is utterly irrelevant. I am not against drafting a RB but given their overall situation I certainly would not with either of their top 2 selections. Someone like AJ Dillon at #104 that could add to their power running game could be good. Or maybe someone at #126.

Can’t disagree with the importance of a good OL, 93.

But, just to clarify, are you of the opinion that the Rams must draft an OL player (or two) with our earliest picks? That our projected current OL is inadequate?

Other than a stud C that might fall to 52, do you expect an OL player to be there at 84 that could beat out any of Corbett, Edwards, Evans, or Hav as ‘20 starters?

Follow up question. Do you feel that an available OL player at our respective picks through round 4 would be better value/need Ram picks than edge, ILB, RB, or even maybe FS?

Color me skeptical, frankly.

I'm not LMU93 but I'll take a stab at some of these questions.

I don't think they have to draft OL with the first pick but I do think they need to fortify it. I don't believe our current OL - the one that ended 2019 - meets 93's standard of "much higher quality." I think it's probably about average which isn't good enough.

I wouldn't call our current OL subpar but if the goal is to have one of the best OLs in the league, then yeah I'd say at this point, it's inadequate.

I do believe that there will be a center or guard at 84, possibly 104, that could beat out Corbett or Blythe. Those two guys IMO are the weak links and I've seen several prospects that I think could potentially beat them out day 1. Tyler Biadasz, C, Jonah Jackson, G, Robert Hunt, G, just to name a few, are players that I believe could immediately upgrade our OL and some of them will be there at 84, possibly 104. (If you can't tell, I'm not a Corbett fan!)

So through round 4 I believe they absolutely need to draft someone.
