Oh, come on! Both were Sean's decision. He's a very young coach who just finished his third year and came in wanting a veteran presence on the defense and the stability that Bones brought to the table. I suspect he is just taking more control, for better or worse, and now has the confidence to let it fly with his choices.

McVay IS imposing his will more this season after last years disappointments. We see evidence of that everywhere we look.

We’ve seen critical changes in coaching (including THREE new coordinators) and significant changes in key player personnel. Both Phillips and Fassel didn’t produce the results expected if we’re being honest. No sacred cows on this Ram team under McVay. Either coaches or players, for that matter.

Happily, McVay didn’t spare himself. We know this not only by his public comments but by the fact that a needed OC was hired to assist and take much off his plate.

The new D will have a profoundly different philosophy. One that’s better against the run, more unpredictable, and one that can and will make changes within the game rather than waiting for halftime adjustments. The importance of both things in this tough NFC West cannot be overstated.

Time will tell us just how much better this ‘20 Ram team will be, but I, for one, just love to see this creative young HC making big moves in an attempt to get back to the SB.

I sure wouldn’t want to bet against this driven McVay guy.
