I would assume it was at least intended as the draft day cap they put on the draftees' heads. So I don't know that the team can act like it's a hoax. For it to be a hoax it would mean someone made a hat that looked that stupid, and Kevin would have condemned it as such immediately.
Which he didn't.
So I suspect what we saw was a "neon" version of the new logo. We'll see what happens from here, maybe they have a runner-up or alternate or just a recolored old logo but I would guess they make a change because selling merchandise is important.
Oh and btw I fully expect the horns on the new helmets to have the 3d effect caused by the lines. And I am fine with that. I actually like the horns in particular the sharp point at the bottom that isn't overly curled.
