That is they should have gone with smaller cities that are off the NFL radar, with the long range goal of being a developmental league which is something that is hard to do without good investment (I think the AAF wanted to do that but just didn't have the investments lined up correctly nor an aligned upper management). This would also jive nicely with the time of year the XFL plays.
McMahon is a bit of an egomaniac though so I doubt that is his plan. He probably sees his league as competition for the NFL which won't end well. But all that aside having the resources lined up is a big advantage and there's one guy in charge with a lot of good football folks involved so I would not be surprised to see this league last a little longer than the last one.
