i tend to agree with you in that nothing major will result. However i dont think you or anyone else is approaching the potential gurley trade correctly. the trade wouldnt be about another team's interest in acquiring the services of gurley, rather it would be about the rams dumping the salary of gurley to a team with lots of cap space, much like like the talib and osweiler deals. thus the rams may need to give up a pick to get the deal done. that being said, i dont think the rams want to do gurly wrong. its not they way they operate. thus, with this in mind, a meeting may involve the rams wanting to know what gurley has in mind for his future given the knee issue. does he want to keep playing? if so, how long? does he want to retire? the answer to those questions could impact a salary dump trade or a restructure.

To make a trade like that the Rams would have to give up a draft pick. They certainly won't GET a draft pick in a scenario like that.

And so which is worse--losing a draft pick in a year where those are crucial, or getting another year out of Gurley---who can still be productive even with the knee.

And of out that they get about 4.6 M in cap space while also needing a new RB.

Personally? I would rather have the draft pick.

It's certainly not a slam dunk that a trade would be better.
