This is a guy who has been in consideration for full-fledged offensive coordinator spots--a step up from what he is now, as the running game coordinator.
So why would he take a step back and take a lower position, when he knows he can take a step UP.
MAYBE the Rams can make it a lateral move by asking Kromer to give up the "run game coordinator" spot, in which case McDaniel is just at the same level as before.
But even then, he would have to want to leave SF to take the same position with LA, as opposed to just staying put.
Is Joe Barry still the Assistant Head Coach? That would count as a promotion as well.
I guess if McDaniel's contract is up, it's at least a possibility.
I think yeah Barry is the asst. head coach still at this point, but if he is willing to give it up, yeah that would be a higher position.
