several other DCs fill the position... but Staley is the man. Other than taxes, who wouldn't want to be a DC in SoCal for the Rams and work with the likes of AD, Ramsey and a young core of D talent. This appears to be a pick out of left field but I can only surmise that McVay's coaching network gave him good reports on Staley and his own due diligence sealed the deal. For Fangio to bring him to Denver with him from Chicago says alot about his Staley's coaching ability...
We can only hope that McVay made the right choice in his DC selection because the NFC West is a beast of a division with diverse offensive systems... talent will only get you so far... scheme, coaching and the ability to lead men takes it the rest of the way!
Not concerned about O'Connel as OC... McVay still runs the show there.
