Fassel has a family and his kids are young. Maybe his leaving has as much to do with his own choice to go. Maybe he just wanted out of LA? None of us knows why his contract wasn't renewed. I'm just saying it's possible that he and his family want something different.
Fassel has been with the Rams since the Fisher years so maybe he's just ready to move on. He's a good coach. I wish him well.
