McVay surely has had his eye on several DC candidates for quite some time. As he had his eye on numerous asst candidates prior to being hired as HC. That’s just how he rolls.

I suspect that he will favor a younger fiery first timer. Someone that might kinda remind him of himself. IOW, probably won’t hire another retread DC.

I think that McVay can virtually have his pick of the litter among available candidates.

McVay did an exceptionally good job in his hires when he first became HC. I see NO reason not to think that he will make a good decision on his DC.

There will inevitably be other asst coaches on D to be fired. The new DC is gonna want his own guys.
