January 01, 2020 06:32PM
[walterfootball.com]
Chuba Hubbard**, RB, Oklahoma State
Height: 6-1. Weight: 207.
Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.
11/30/19: Hubbard has taken college football by storm this fall, and he entered the final month of the regular season as the nation's leading rusher. Hubbard has averaged 6.4 yards per carry in 2019 for 1,832 yards with 20 touchdowns. He has 18 catches for 170 yards as well.

Hubbard lacks elite power and is a bit of a straight-line runner, but he has good vision and feel. Hubbard is a hard-charging back who has good contact balance with instincts. While Hubbard is a former track competitor, he is not a blazer. For the NFL, Hubbard has starting potential and can make some plays in the passing game. In speaking with some scouts, they feel that Hubbard could go in the second round.

As a redshirt freshman, Hubbard averaged six yards per carry for 740 yards with seven touchdowns and 22 receptions for 229 yards and two scores.

Jonathan Taylor*, RB, Wisconsin
Height: 5-11. Weight: 216.
Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.
11/30/19: Taylor has rolled over the competition this fall, displaying his combination of power, quickness, vision, cutting ability, and a tremendous stiff arm. This season, Taylor has averaged 6.5 yards per carry for 1,685 yards with 18 touchdowns. He has 20 receptions for 162 yards and four touchdowns as well. His improved ability as a receiver really helps his draft stock. In speaking to some team sources, they think Taylor could be a second-round pick.

8/17/19: As a sophomore, Taylor averaged 7.1 yards per carry for 2,194 yards with 16 touchdowns. He had eight receptions for 60 yards as well. Taylor broke out in 2017, averaging 6.6 yards per carry for 1,977 yards with 13 touchdowns.

Taylor has a nice combination of size, quickness, and natural running skills. With a good offensive line and an easy 2019 schedule, he should put together another year of good production.

J.K. Dobbins*, RB, Ohio State
Height: 5-10. Weight: 214.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.
11/30/19: This season, Dobbins has averaged 6.6 yards per carry for 1,446 yards with 15 touchdowns. He has 15 receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns as well. He has been a tough runner for Ohio State, showing starting ability for the NFL with size, strength, the ability to run through contact, and quickness to rip off chunk runs.

8/17/19: Dobbins averaged 4.6 yards per carry in 2018 for 1,053 yards with 10 touchdowns. He also made 26 receptions for 263 yards. Mike Weber was supposed to be the next star running back at Ohio State in 2017, but an injury slowed him down to start the season. The Buckeyes turned to Dobbins and never looked back, as the freshman dominated the competition. Dobbins averaged 7.2 yards per carry for 1,403 yards with seven touchdowns on the year. He also had 22 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown. Dobbins has a fast first-step and is dangerous to break off long runs on any carry.

Travis Etienne*, RB, Clemson
Height: 5-10. Weight: 200.
Projected 40 Time: 4.47.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.
11/30/19: For the most part, Etienne has played well for Clemson in 2019, showing the speed to break off long gains on any carry. He has averaged 8.7 yards per carry for 1,335 yards with 14 touchdowns. He also has 25 receptions for 252 yards and two touchdowns. It hasn't all been good for Etienne, who demonstrated some ball-security issues against Georgia Tech and North Carolina. The game against the Tar Heels was a rough tape as a blocker and runner for Etienee. He also is a smaller runner who won't bring a lot of power or yards after contact to the NFL.

8/17/19: Etienne is not the biggest of backs, but he runs hard and has quickness to break off long runs. Etienne averaged 8.1 yards per carry in 2018 for 1,658 yards with 24 touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 78 yards and two scores. If Etienne can add weight while maintaining his speed, he could rise.

Cam Akers*, RB, Florida State
Height: 5-11. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.
11/30/19: Akers has averaged 4.9 yards per carry in 2019 for 1,042 yards with 13 touchdowns. He also has 28 receptions for 223 yards and four scores. Akers has played well for the Seminoles, showing good running and receiving ability while playing behind a shaky offensive line.

8/17/19: Akers has played well for Florida State despite having an awful offensive line in front of him. In 2018, he averaged 4.4 yards per carry for 706 yards with six touchdowns. He also caught 23 passes for 145 yards with two scores. Akers played well as a freshman with an average of 5.3 yards per carry for 1,024 yards with seven touchdowns. He caught 16 passes for 116 yards and a score that season.

Kylin Hill*, RB, Mississippi State
Height: 5-11. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.
11/30/19: In 2019, Hill has averaged 5.8 yards per carry for 1,215 yards with 10 scores. He has 16 receptions for 173 yards and a touchdown too. Hill has run well for Mississippi State, showing power and quickness, but Mississippi State struggled to help Hill find good running lanes in a number of games this season. He has starting potential for the NFL and could stand to improve his receiving ability for the next level.

8/17/19: Hill showed some major talent during the 2018 season with quickness, strength, and natural running ability. He averaged 6.3 yards per carry for 734 yards with four touchdowns on only 117 carries. He also caught 22 passes for 176 yards and four touchdowns. Team sources have said that Hill jumped out at them and was impossible to ignore.

Zack Moss, RB, Utah
Height: 5-10. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.
11/30/19: Moss has averaged 6.4 yards per carry this for 1,158 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also has 21 catches for 320 yards and a score. Some sources believe Moss is a second- or third-round pick as they feel he is a tough runner with a good build. However, they say second-day potential requires a good medical report leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft. Moss has been a workhorse for the Utes as a power runner with quickness and receiving ability. He is putting together an excellent season.

8/17/19: Moss impressed evaluators in 2018, carrying the Utes' offense on their way to a 9-5 season. On the year, he averaged 6.1 yards per carry for 1,096 yards with 11 touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2017, he averaged 5.5 yards per carry for 1,173 yards with 10 touchdowns. He had 29 receptions for 243 yards that season.

Najee Harris*, RB, Alabama
Height: 6-2. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
Projected Round (2020): 2-4.
11/30/19: In 2019, Harris has averaged 5.9 yards per carry for 642 yards with five touchdowns. He has 16 receptions for 171 yards and four scores as a receiver. Harris has flashed at times, but some scouts don't feel Harris is the same caliber as other recent Alabama running backs like Josh Jacobs, Damien Harris or Derrick Henry.

For the NFL, Harris is a big back who has some quickness and athleticism. Over the past few seasons, he has not run to his size and has looked to bounce too many carries to the outside rather than use his power to run behind his pads in a physical manner. Lately, and especially against LSU and Mississippi State, Harris has run aggressively downhill with decisiveness. His tape from the back half of the 2019 season will help his draft grade and definitely makes him look like a better pro prospect compared to how he performed at the beginning of the season.

8/17/19: Harris was a star recruit coming out of high school, and he has flashed a skill set with size, power and speed. As a freshman in 2017, he averaged 6.1 yards per carry for 370 yards with three touchdowns. Alabama didn't give him a lot of carries because of more experienced players ahead of him like Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough. He was expected to take on a bigger role as a sophomore, but Harris and Josh Jacobs beat out Harris for bigger roles. In 2018, Harris had only 117 carries, but averaged 6.7 yards per carry for 783 yards with four touchdowns. By the time of the 2020 NFL Draft, Harris could rise if he becomes the feature back at Alabama. Some sources don't think as highly of Harris as the hype suggests.

Lamical Perine, RB, Florida
Height: 5-11. Weight: 218.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Projected Round (2020): 2-4.
11/30/19: This year, Perine has averaged 4.5 yards per carry for 520 yards with four touchdowns. He also has 32 receptions for 179 yards and four scores. The Florida offensive line's youth and inexperience has led to some poor rushing lanes for Perine, but he has come up with some huge clutch plays for the Gators by making things happen on his own. He is a tough runner and quality receiver.

8/17/19: Perine was an impressive runner for the Gators in 2018. They used a committee approach to the carries, but Perine made the most of his opportunities. On only 134 carries, Perine totaled 826 yards - 6.2 average - and seven touchdowns. He also had 13 receptions for 170 yards. As a sophomore, Perine averaged 4.1 yards per carry for 562 yards with eight touchdowns. Perine is a natural runner who has a strong build to break tackles and pick up yards after contact. He also has patience and good vision. Perine has upside to develop and team sources think he could be a better prospect than other backs who have received more hype.

Scottie Phillips, RB, Ole Miss
Height: 5-11. Weight: 211.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Projected Round (2020): 2-4.
11/30/19: In 2019, Phillips has averaged 4.3 yards per carry for 542 yards with five touchdowns. He also has eight receptions for 77 yards. He has missed time with an ankle injury.

Phillips is a short back who is very thick and strong and has some real power. He can flat out run over some tacklers with violence and shows a serious ability to pick up yards after contact. On top of his physicality, Phillips has a burst with quickness to the edge and speed to hit the hole before it closes. Phillips may not have the size to be a bell-cow back who is a true three-down starter in the NFL, but I know team sources who like him and think he could be a really good rotational back who offers a change of pace as shifty but strong back.

8/17/19: In 2018, Phillips averaged 6.1 yards per carry for 928 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had 10 receptions for 105 yards. Phillips showed a nice skill set and looked capable of producing more, but playing on a struggling and rebuilding team cut down on his opportunities to carry the ball.

Ke'Shawn Vaughn, RB, Vanderbilt
Height: 5-10. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Projected Round (2020): 2-4.
11/30/19: In 2019, Vaughn has averaged 5.3 yards per carry for 1,015 yards with nine touchdowns. He has 28 receptions for 281 yards and a touchdown too. In games, Vaughn has shown some serious strength through contact, flat out running over some defenders.

8/17/19: In 2018, Vaughn averaged 7.9 yards per carry for 1,244 yards with 12 touchdowns. He also caught 13 passes for 170 yards with two touchdowns. Vaughn made it on NFL teams' preseason watch lists.

Joshua Kelley, RB, UCLA
Height: 5-11. Weight: 204.
Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
11/30/19: Kelley was benched in the season opener againast Cincinnati, but he has since returned to the lineup. On the year, Kelley has averaged 4.7 yards per carry for 984 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has 10 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown as well.

8/17/19: Kelley started out his college career at UC Davis, where he totaled 1,139 yards and seven touchdowns over two seasons. He sat out 2017 after transferring, and then had a breakout year for the Bruins in 2018, averaging 5.5 yards per carry for 1,243 yards and 12 touchdowns. Kelley took 27 receptions for 193 yards as well. His production could climb in his second year with Chip Kelly.

J.J. Taylor*, RB, Arizona
Height: 5-6. Weight: 185.
Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
11/30/19: Some team sources like Taylor more than Arizona State's Eno Benjamin, who has received more media hype and early-round draft projections. While Taylor does not have the size to be a three-down starter in the NFL, he is put together well and some evaluators think he could be used similarly to the Bears' Tarik Cohen. Other team sources aren't has high on him and think he is more of a mid-round backup.

This season, Taylor has averaged five yards per carry for 673 yards with five touchdowns. He has 29 receptions for 270 yards as well. Last year, he averaged 5.6 yards per carry for 1,434 yards with six scores. Taylor is a sleeper prospect who some teams are eyeing as a rotational back who could function well in a certain role.

Eno Benjamin*, RB, Arizona State
Height: 5-10. Weight: 201.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
11/30/19: Benjamin has averaged 4.2 yards per carry in 2019 for 915 yards with eight touchdowns. He has 33 receptions for 333 yards and two scores as well. Some sources say that Benjamin is more of a change-of-pace back for the NFL.

8/17/19: Team sources have told me that Benjamin jumped out at them, and they're excited to see him in 2019. In 2018, Benjamin took on a big work load of 300 carries that he turned into 1,642 yards - 5.5 average - with 16 touchdowns. He also caught 35 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns. Benjamin isn't the biggest of backs, but he held up well with his huge workload in 2018.

A.J. Dillon, RB/FB, Boston College
Height: 6-0. Weight: 245.
Projected 40 Time: 4.59.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
11/30/19: Dillon has averaged 5.3 yards per carry this season for 1,507 yards with 13 touchdowns. He also has 11 catches for 177 yards and a touchdown.

8/17/19: The power back Dillon has been a tough runner in the ACC over the past two seasons. In 2018, Dillon averaged 4.9 yards per carry for 1,108 yards with 10 touchdowns. He also had eight receptions for 41 yards and a score. Dillon put together a big 2017 season, averaging 5.3 yards per carry for 1,589 yards with 14 touchdowns. He made zero receptions. Dillon could be a candidate to move to fullback in the NFL.

Patrick Taylor Jr., RB, Memphis
Height: 5-11. Weight: 216.
Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
11/30/19: This year, Taylor has averaged 4.8 yards per carry for 237 yards and four touchdowns. He also has five receptions for 45 yards. Taylor missed all of the games in September and October with an undisclosed injury he sustained in Week 1. In the season opener, he showed some strength to break tackles and contact balance to maintain his feet after getting hit. Taylor has a nice combination of instincts, vision, quickness and power. He migh benefit from seeking a medical redshirt to return to Memphis next season.

8/17/19: In 2018, Taylor ran for 1,122 yards on 208 attempts, averaging 5.4 yards per carry with 15 touchdowns. He also had 17 receptions for 197 yards. With Darrell Henderson and Tony Pollard moving onto the NFL, Taylor should take a larger role in 2019.

Larry Rountree III, RB, Missouri
Height: 5-10. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
11/30/19: Rountree has averaged 4.6 yards per carry this season for 741 yards with eight scores. He also has 11 receptions for 64 yards.

8/17/19: Rountree ran well for Missouri in 2018, averaging 5.4 yards per carry for 1,216 yards with 11 touchdowns. He also had 14 receptions for 62 yards. In 2017, Rountree averaged 5.6 yards per carry for 703 yards with six scores. Rountree could be the bell-cow back for the Tigers in 2019 with Damarea Crockett in the NFL.

Trey Ragas*, RB, La.-Lafayette
Height: 5-11. Weight: 227.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
11/30/19: In 2019, Ragas has averaged 7.8 yards per carry for 748 yards and 11 touchdowns on 96 carries. He also has six catches for 60 yards and a score.

8/17/19: Ragas is a thick power back who made it onto NFL teams' preseason watch lists along with two other tailbacks at La.-Lafayette. Ragas had the most carries in that talented backfield in 2018, totaling 1,191 yards with an average 5.7 yards per carry with eight touchdowns. He had 25 receptions for 229 yards and two scores as well. As a freshman, Ragas averaged 5.7 yards per carry for 813 yards and nine scores.

Raymond Calais, RB, La.-Lafayette
Height: 5-9. Weight: 180.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
11/30/19: Calais has averaged 7.4 yards per carry in 2019 for 711 yards for five touchdowns. He also has eight receptions for 69 yards.

8/17/19: Louisiana had three running backs land on NFL teams' preseason watch lists, and Calais earned a spot despite getting only 81 carries in 2018. He did a lot of damage in those limited attempts, averaging 9.3 yards per carry for 754 yards with seven touchdowns. Teammates Trey Ragas and Elijah Mitchell are bigger, but Calais is a smaller shifty back who challenges defenses.

Benny LeMay, RB, Charlotte
Height: 5-9. Weight: 218.
Projected 40 Time: 4.56.
Projected Round (2020): 4-6.
11/30/19: In 2019, LeMay has averaged 5.7 yards per carry for 922 yards and seven touchdowns. He has 19 receptions for 242 yards and four touchdowns too.

8/17/19: In 2018, LeMay averaged 5.3 yards per carry for 1,228 yards with 11 touchdowns. He also caught 21 passes for 282 yards. LeMay is short but thickly built. His strong play landed him on NFL teams' preseason watch lists.

Elijah Mitchell, RB, La.-Lafayette
Height: 5-11. Weight: 221.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Projected Round (2020): 5-7.
11/30/19: This season, Mitchell has averaged 6.0 yards per carry for 905 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has nine receptions for 69 yards.

8/17/19: In a talented backfield with teammates Trey Ragas and Raymond Calais, Mitchell is a thick power back who made it onto NFL teams' preseason watch lists. In 2018, Mitchell averaged 6.7 yards per carry for 977 yards with 13 touchdowns. He had 20 receptions for 349 yards and three scores.

Kelton Moore, RB/FB, Nevada
Height: 5-11. Weight: 240.
Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2020): 5-7.
11/30/19: Moore has averaged 3.4 yards per carry this year for 108 yards and two touchdowns. He also has six receptions for 17 yards.

8/17/19: Moore is a big back who has done enough to make it on NFL teams' preseason watch lists as a potential third-day prospect for the 2020 NFL Draft. In 2018, he averaged 4.8 yards per carry for 433 yards with four touchdowns. In 2017, he averaged 5.2 yards per carry for 855 yards with four touchdowns. Over those two seasons, he totaled 39 receptions with a touchdown.

JaMycal Hasty, RB, Baylor
Height: 5-9. Weight: 211.
Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.
11/30/19: Hasty has averaged 6.1 yards per carry this year for 510 yards with four touchdowns. He has made 20 receptions for 163 yards as well.

8/17/19: In 2018, Hasty averaged 5.3 yards per carry for 434 yards with four touchdowns. He also caught 26 passes for 170 yards and a score. His most productive season came in his freshman year with 623 yards on 119 carries - a 5.2-yard average - with three touchdowns. Hasty had 51 receptions for 275 yards and a touchdown over his sophomore and junior year. NFL teams put Hasty on their preseason watch lists.

Juwan Washington, RB, San Diego State
Height: 5-7. Weight: 190.
Projected 40 Time: 4.56.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.
11/30/19: This year, Washington has averaged 3.4 yards per carry for 474 yards with two touchdowns. Also, he has 15 receptions for 94 yards and two scores.

8/17/19: Washington is an undersized back, but he could contend to be selected in the 2020 NFL Draft. In 2018, he averaged five yards per carry for 999 yards with 10 touchdowns. NFL teams have Washington on their preseason watch lists.

James Robinson, RB, Illinois State
Height: 5-10. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.
11/30/19: Robinson has averaged 5.0 yards per carry in 2019 for 1,395 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has 12 receptions for 48 yards.

8/17/19: In 2018, Robinson averaged 6.3 yards per carry for 1,290 yards with 12 touchdowns. He had 21 receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown as well. Robinson landed on NFL teams' preseason watch lists.

Kennedy McCoy, RB, West Virginia
Height: 6-0. Weight: 198.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.
11/30/19: McCoy has averaged three yards per carry in 2019 for 272 yards and three touchdowns. He has 34 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown.

8/17/19: In 2018, McCoy averaged 5.5 yards per carry for 802 yards with eight touchdowns. He could take on a bigger role in 2019 with West Virginia breaking in a new quarterback. McCoy did enough to earn a spot on NFL teams' preseason watch lists.

Darius Bradwell, RB/FB, Tulane
Height: 6-1. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.
11/30/19: This season, Bradwell has averaged 4.4 yards per carry for 436 yards and two touchdowns. He has three catches for 13 yards.

8/17/19: The big back Bradwell rolled over opponents in 2018, averaging 5.6 yards per carry for 1,134 yards with 11 touchdowns. He made it onto NFL teams' preseason watch lists.

Jonathan Ward, RB, Central Michigan
Height: 6-0. Weight: 202.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.
11/30/19: In 2019, Ward has averaged 6.4 yards per carry for 968 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has 28 receptions for 284 yards and a touchdown as well.

8/17/19: Ward was limited in 2018, but in 2017, he had a solid season, putting up an average of 5.7 yards per carry for 1,017 yards with 10 touchdowns. He had 48 receptions for 470 yards with three scores as well. Ward needs to stay healthy and productive in 2019, but he did make it onto NFL teams' preseason watch lists.

LeVante Bellamy, RB, Western Michigan
Height: 5-9. Weight: 185.
Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.
11/30/19: Bellamy has averaged 5.7 yards per carry this season for 1,284 yards and 21 touchdowns. He has also made 13 receptions for 48 yards.

8/17/19: In 2018, Bellamy averaged six yards per carry for 1,228 yards for six touchdowns. He also had 30 receptions for 185 yards with a touchdown. Staying healthy is critical for Bellamy, who suffered season-ending injuries in both 2017 - six games played - and in 2016 - three games played. Bellamy made it onto NFL teams' preseason watch lists.

Brian Robinson Jr.*, RB, Alabama
Height: 6-1. Weight: 221.
Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.
11/30/19: Robinson has averaged 4.7 yards per carry in 2019 for 426 yards and five touchdowns. He has 10 catches for 117 yards as well.

8/17/19: Robinson is another big back from Alabama who could rise when he gets more carries. In 2018, he had 63 attempts for 272 yards - 4.3 average - and two touchdowns.

Jaqwis Dancy, RB, Louisiana Tech
Height: 5-11. Weight: 194.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Projected Round (2020): 7-FA.
11/30/19: Dancy has averaged 4.7 yards per carry in 2019 for 207 yards with two touchdowns. He has nine receptions for 65 yards too.

8/17/19: Dancy had only 667 yards on 124 carries - 5.4 average - in 2018, but on those limited opportunities, he totaled nine touchdowns. Dancy did enough to get on NFL teams' preseason watch lists.

Loren Easly, RB, North Texas
Height: 5-11. Weight: 197.
Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2020): 7-FA.
11/30/19: This season, Easly has averaged 4.4 yards per carry for 243 yards with a touchdown.

8/17/19: In 2018, Easly took 74 carries for 386 yards with four touchdowns.

Chris Evans, RB, Michigan
Height: 5-11. Weight: 216.
Projected 40 Time: 4.56.
Projected Round (2020): 7-FA.
11/30/19: Evans is not playing while dealing with some academic issues.

8/17/19: Evans made it onto NFL teams' preseason watch lists, but that was before he was suspended for the 2019 season by head coach Jim Harbaugh. In 2018, Evans averaged 5.2 yards per carry for 423 yards with four touchdowns. He also had 18 receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown.

Spencer Brown*, RB/FB, UAB
Height: 6-1. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.56.
Projected Round (2020): 7-FA.
11/30/19: Brown has averaged 3.5 yards per carry this season for 351 yards and four touchdowns. He also has three receptions for 16 yards.

8/17/19: Brown is a big back who put up impressive production over the past two years. In 2018, he averaged 4.5 yards per carry for 1,227 yards for 16 touchdowns. He caught eight passes for 20 yards and a touchdown as well. In the 2017 season, he averaged 5.3 yards per carry for 1,329 yards with 10 touchdowns. Brown may not have the speed to stay at running back in the NFL, but he could gain weight and play some fullback.
