No contract guy in the universe, unless he is also the GM, dicates to the team what they sign a guy for. And as I said you don't want a world where it works that way.
This was all covered in detail when it happened, 43. There are no mysteries to this.
With the Rams the contracts guy reports to the football people. He's not independent. He does not make independent decisions about who to sign and for roughly how much. And what I said was that at the time Snead was in charge and he balked at Jenkins wanting more than was offered. And at the time, as wrong as he was, that WAS
his call.

I don’t recall Snead upsetting any other player like this since Snead came aboard. Do you? Rams couldn’t always work things out contract wise, but never had an immediate blowup like the JJ incident that I can recall.
