which to me is the big difference.
there are a few plays this season that the old gurley hits the big gears and is gone. this year, those gears appear to be gone, managed or not.
Of course he has lost explosion, we have all said that, and seen it. That is not in dispute. It's also not the topic or issue when we talk about the knee flaring up. Which. Is. A. Different. Thing.
So to reiterate.
Point 1. He has an arthritic condition which we have all recognized all year as having robbed him a bit of some explosiveness. We all KNOW that. I even call him Gurley 2-point-oh.
Point 2. Which is a completely separate point. With a knee condition like that, if you don't manage it, the knee can suffer wear and tear overuse and when that happens it can flare up with severe pain and swelling. We know that happens when it happens because he cannot run AT ALL when that happens. He is put on the inactive list and pain and swelling in the knee is reported on the injury report. That's what happened last December.
Don't mix those 2 points up, they are not the same thing. They're related to the same basic condition (arthritic knee) but they are not the same thing.
