You make some really excellent points, and if I understand you correctly, you place a high value on integrity. I like that notion a lot. I met Lance Armstrong several years ago when I ran the Boston Marathon. I had read his book about his cancer and Lance was still talking about his experience pretty candidly. He told some of us that he felt like his cancer treatment had benefitted his training by increasing his body's resistance to pain and fatigue. He said something to the effect that if it weren't so grim, it would be the perfect training for endurance sports.

When I found out about his doping, I felt disappointed. One of my teammates who is from England, told me that I shouldn't waste my energy being disappointed because everyone cheats in sport. I was told the same thing by one of my running coaches a few years ago. A retired professional triathlete told me that I need to understand that probably 60 - 68% of the people that I compete against are on something.

Sobering.
