How many times has McVAy fallen on the sword for Goff, Gurley, etc? How many vets talk about the 'culture of the Rams' and how it feels like a family. Everyone gets a pat on the back and a big contract- yet there seems to be little accountability for on-field play. They go out on national tv, at home and take a giant collective dump in McVay's hoodie. Then seem to smile and laugh with their old chum Marcus Peters as it's going down. No anger, no frustration. Why should there be. Most of the players are overpaid and don't have to deal with yuckee things like pre-season games or harder practices or actually performing in the biggest games of the year.
As much as McVay's play calling has been suspect - much of what's killed this offense is execution. No blocking on runs inside, no blocking on runs outside, no blocking on screens, poor blitz pick up, no tackling on defense, no gap integrit, coverage mistakes. Catchable balls dropped. That's not scheme - it's guys getting whooped or being out of position.
It's not like the Ravens were running some exotic offense (it's Greg Roman for crying out loud) - but when you're back can pick up 11 yards on a 3rd and 12 with an inside run, or your QB gets to operate on 2nd and 3, or 3rd and 1 most of the game - it's not that hard to do well.
