If it is important for a young, inexperienced line to get reps with each other and gel as a unit (which I agree with and in the case of a OZS line, really really agree with) then why in the world did McVay not let these kids get some run together in the preseason? It didn't make sense to me then and it doesn't hold water now.
Is McVay running a country club or a professional football team? Its a semi-serious question. If McVay is so scared of injuring his players in "meaningless" pre-season games then he is coaching scared. Injuries are a part of every sport known to man. And if McVay and Kromer aren't good enough coaches to coach through the possibility of an injury to an OL in a preseason game, then this team is in trouble.
OK so maybe that was over the top, but c'mon. Maybe if he saw some of the problems with the OL in the preseason against mostly vanilla defenses, they would have had enough time to adjust.
McVay has some growing to do. I just hope he is smart enough to actually learn from this.
