DP...I appreciate your efforts to write a huge post but I disagree with virtually every single one of your conclusions (and a lot of your premises).
But it would take as much time as you put into that to say why.
Time I don't have.
But this will keep coming up and I will put in a few cents now and then.
Right now I am just on the record as disagreeing with the general direction of your argument. Fwiw.
