They showed him on sideline riding the bike.... I’m wondering if McVay is simply trying to cover for Gurley who got hurt again and took himself out of the game.

A back can be productive with that but you have to manage it.

If you DON'T manage it, the same thing will happen that happened last year--it swells up and he cannot play at all.

You don't risk having him miss entire games because of ONE 4th quarter.

This is all obvious, clear, straightforward, and very cut and dried. It's simple. The alternative to load managing him is risking losing him for several games. It has already happened. Twice. Once it was the Oakland game and he came back but played poorly the next game. The other time was last December and they had to sit him for a few games.
