Yeah, and I could easily be wrong, but I lived in LA mid-1989 to late 1998 and don't recall anything like that in those 9+ years. There were definitely occasional wildfires here and there. I can recall seeing some scorched hillsides out near Agoura and Thousand Oaks, etc. But the Sepulveda Pass sure was never in flames and hundreds of homes didn't burn. Of course 20+ years ago there weren't homes in some areas there are now. But when I see the news today I just don't recall anything nearly as severe out there.
