In this world of litigation and blame, the Rams sending Cooks to "a specialist" doesn't necessarily mean much more than covering their butts. Don't get me wrong; it's still the right thing to do for Cooks. But the report of a specialist will go a long way towards immunizing the Rams and the League if he gives Cooks a green light. This is, without doubt, part of the equation. And should the specialist recommend a month off..... that's what'll happen. And if he recommends retiring, you can bet another "specialist" will be consulted to confirm because it would have a big financial affect on Cooks and the Rams.
