First, how does trading Talib free up money for guys like Ramsey? Talib is in the last year of his contract so his money comes off the books after this season whether they trade him or not. And Ramsey is under contract for this season and next: his big payday won't kick in until the 20201 season.
Second, if Talib plays out his contract and signs with another team in the offseason the Rams would be in line for a comp pick. But if they trade him then his new team gets the comp pick. He would only be eligible to play in 3 regular season games with his new team: how much would they be willing to pay? (And if it's less that whatever comp pick the Rams expect they should just keep him!!)
