was that the drop off in our secondary, due to injuries, wasn't anywhere near what I feared. There were some guys out there that-to be honesty-I had not even heard of who really made some good plays. Get Talib and Johnson out there and we may have the best secondary in football. Then just fix the O line and running backs and look out.
If you count Ramsey, the Rams have had 5 starting caliber CBs this year: Ramsey, Peters, Talib, Hill, and Williams. Now that's a fairly wide range, from generational talent to pretty good and in between, but they're all starting caliber. Long is a very promising rookie and Robey-Coleman is consistently ranked as a top slot corner if not THE top slot corner. Snead mentioned that before the big trades this week, teams kept calling him about trading some of his CB depth (presumably Hill and Williams). So other teams are aware of all this too.
Christian was great in depth behind the front 3 safeties (Weddle, Johnson, Rapp).
One thing this team has done consistently well since Snead arrived (though it's not just Snead) is find DBs. They do it in all ways possible--draft picks, UDFAs, waiver pick-ups, free agents, trades.
Once they get Johnson back they may have the best secondary in football WITHOUT Talib.
Not everyone watched every pre-season game, but if you did, you left that with the impression the Rams were just freaky deep at DB.
