Rams don't have a widespread fan base.
Yesterday was so disappointing on the Rams and fans.

but I think/feel that California is a VERY expensive place to just live. I can see a person giving up seats, making some money to pay for the expensive gas, utilities, etc.......and you can watch it at home to boot. I also think that more than just several of these incoming fans are not locals...they travel like my wife and I do.....
I like your idea of giving them up to schools, local youth teams, but the tickets are the property of those who bought them...they can do what they want....
Here's an alternative question.....it's just as far to go to SF as it is LA.....why don't RAM fans buy up SF tickets in the same manner? I have never seen RAM fans fill up an opponents field house, never. We go around the country and we will see RAM fans but never, ever in a real large number....never.
I think it's just too easy an answer to say it's just one of those things, the city is a melting pot a lot of fans from other places......I really just don't see this happening anywhere else, surely LA is not the only place that is a melting pot of fans originally from other places.
Is it like this at Dodger games, or Laker games, or Kings games? If it's not why are these people filling up the Coliseum from other places who are fans of football teams but not with their other home grown sports teams?
