it was a necessity. They had the choice of keeping Saffold and Sully...they chose to go the route of Dante and Hav, and others to go with the money. If it was an experiment like thing....I just can't believe that they all sat in a room and said well let's try this.....They had a plan....they have a plan.
IMO in the real world you just have to pull the trigger on certain things...you look where your money is going and at the same time you need to still move forward in all areas....you just don't have enough cash to go everywhere. The offset is having to draft and at time replace vets with the cheaper contracts...the real ability comes out when you can do this and still stay competitive...
This is what puts teams over others IMO, the ability to see, collect and then develop those young contracts without totally stopping/taking away a lot of your teams competitive ability to stand ground and not fall back for long periods of time....to stay viable for more than a season or 2 every 10-15 years.....Can't say yet with us anymore than you can say that now with the whiners....
We've been there..in the late through the 70's we were one of those teams...always a viable team for the big game....This is the closet for me I've seen with this group yes the O-Line is in BIG Flux....but not an experiment...they pulled the trigger now....for what would have to done sooner then latter.
