I agree. As frustrating a loss as that is, there's no shame in it. Seattle is a hornets' nest to go play in and Wilson is a special QB that had one of the more special nights of his career. As Weddle said there is zero sense losing sleep over things like that TD to Lockett.
It's
all about the Rams OL coming together and we saw what the Rams offense can get back to with them having a good (not great night).
Goff started really slow (2-of-8) netting two FGs and two punts in their first four drives. But then they settled in and he was 27-42 the rest of the way. The box score shows another turnover by JG but that INT was not on him at all. By the way I'm REALLY glad Goff wasn't hurt on that two-point conversion. The way he was bent backward could have been bad...
Gurley got going some and of course the pass/run balance wasn't quite there but the offense as a whole produced.
Everett and Higbee combined for 183 yards. Something they can build on or just an aberration?..
Zuerlein?... He'll hit that 95% of the time but just a foot right..
Defensively, I thought they came out of the gate fast and determined. The first two series they played tremendous and were getting through the Seattle OL every play. Honestly, I thought they got gassed late- a combination of four days rest and Wilson making them work so much more. Any sort of typical dropback QB would have been sacked 6 times last night but Wilson is, as someone on ESPN said this morning, like a salmon covered in Vaseline...
I will say that Peters is becoming a problem for them. Honestly, pick six last week aside I think he's the weak link of that defense. And for as savvy a player Talib is he's declining. The Rams have a great trio at safety and NRC is a quality nickel back but CB is a 2020 priority.
The Clay Matthews roughing call? Just horrible.... Should be able to be challenged- but then, the Rams were out of challenges at that point anyway...
So through 5 games? I would venture to guess most fans that reviewed the schedule had them 3-2 after 5 games. I did (with an 11-5 projection). The NFC West is officially a dogfight again. The Rams have work to do on both sides of the ball. Again we saw some glimpses of the OL coming together a bit which is good. The 10 days rest comes at a good time I think and they face the 49ers next Sunday on a short week for them (coming off MNF). Regroup and get to 6-2 at the Bye. Their goals are all still in front of them. Last night just....wasn't theirs....
