Why is outstanding offense considered better than outstanding defense

September 26, 2019 10:36AM
Last year at this time, our offense was really clicking on all cylinders. But our defense was not playing that well - kind of mediocre if I remember correctly.

This year, our defense has been outstanding. But the offense is kind of mediocre (although still scoring 20+ per game.)

When you win with defense, the games tend to be closer. That's a fact. So our games have been close, but all have been wins.

I guess I don't understand why the focus is not on how great our defense is playing this year. Did anyone notice how we basically just erased OBJ - easily one of the top 5 receivers in the NFL - from the Browns game?
