We all know why. This was the Seahwawks, Pete Carroll, king of let them be who they are...Also, a team with a very real need for an Edge pass rusher.
For the last time, I promise, he will not compete. He does not like the game.
People talk about no risk, free roll, etc.--I'd rather spend that spot developing a raw but football loving OL while I have an excellent line coach. In the meantime, he will spend a month trying to be invisible, collecting pay checks until Clay tells him to f@#$ off.
And for those who value him as a free 3rd rounder:
What makes Polite such an intriguing case study, not only because of how his perceived draft stock has fallen significantly, is that his usage alone at Florida suggests he is a fringe Day 2 player. At Florida, Polite only started nine total games and was not utilized in many of their base defensive sets. He was purely a situational pass-rusher, who struggled immensely against the run. His ineffectiveness at setting the edge is a culmination of his lack of instinctual awareness, functional strength, and shedding ability. He can get smothered by bigger offensive tackles who can quickly strike first and use their momentum to funnel him away. The quick, explosive first steps and hands we see in pass sets are not on full-display in the running game. Is this a coachable trait, or is it something Polite will be plagued by during his entire NFL career? We will find out how NFL teams feel about him in April, but Polite is not the first undersized edge rusher of this type.

I would much rather have Trevon Young or Hatfield back. Apologies for beating this dead horse--I'll end here.
Be well all,
