The double reverse success last nite tells you just how hard defenders are flowing outside against us.
That play and the Woods run just outside Havenstien in another game after a jet sweep fake to another prev WR were two of the most innovative or surprise plays of the season in the run game.
When Brown gets a lot of his yardage how is he doing it ?.
He running laterally and cutting back against the grain .
I don't think its about slamming your head harder against a wall up front with straight dives plays and power.
I think it's about cutbacks counters and so on until we can get rolling and then dial up and hit a gap off tackle or run outside and let Gurley use his explosiveness.
Some type of re -strategy re-focus of our attack in the run game is going to be very critical to our season.
Running inside is huge ,,,
They need to find a smart way to do that with Brown AND Gurley.
He barely tried to establish the run. And as soon as the Rams had some success he went straight to PA... easy throw and catch. So I'm trying to figure out what McVay is doing.
Wasn't Brown nicked up for this game? Perhaps that influenced McVay's game plan.
Its' going to make things a lot easier if Brown is healthy. Or the Rams can change their identity. But they are going to struggle until they figure out what they want to do. They seem to lack confidence but luckily they are so talented it hasn't hurt them in the Win column. No doubt the interior of the OL is an issue. But it was at the end of last season too.
