1) Joseph -Day was handled, pushed back, pushed around, useless the entire game. I think Gaines is not long from being given his shot.
2) B Allen did great. He was NOT pushed back. Certainly he went backwards in typical pass pro protection techniques, but not overwhelmed by any means. Made good blocks in the run game, and helped out as appropriate on double teams.
3) Really poor Punter protection. Panthers were close to Hekker all game long. STs in general were a C-.
4) Donald.....invisible. - This one is likely related to #9. He was sometimes triple teamed. There is thread below showing 2 sacks as a result of him occupying 3 defenders.
5) Reynolds.....shaky.
6) Gurley looked just fine. Don't know what the consternation is about. Yeah, he had a couple of fumbles. He's not a fumbler so I'm not concerned. I owe it to first game rust.
7) Ebukam..... lots of mistakes on D and STs. - If we're going to mention his lots of mistakes, we should credit him with the turnover too. He deflected the backwards pass and then recovered the fumble which led to 7 points 30 seconds later. All in all, that one play greatly affected the game in a positive way.
8) Littleton........ WOW!
9) Fowler.......... Really good game.
10) Brown........ A starting quality RB in this league. So glad we have him.
11) Goff....... inconsistent. Not his best day. Some really good throws, and couple of wth? Like Gurley's fumbles, I owe this to rust.
12) Noteboom..... looks like he's been playing for years. Light on his feet. BIG dude. We're going to be fine when Whit hangs'em up.
NOTE; McCaffery is really special.
NOTE: Clearly with Brown the Rams are going to be able to cut down Gurley's touches by about 5 per game. That will add up over the season. And, Brown's touches are going to be effective. He's more than a pile mover. The guy has moves and moxy.
Missing Brown AND Kupp really hurt us in the Superbowl.
Agreed on most of the rest. I've got to go look at Joseph Day and Reynolds myself. I recall one drop from Reynolds that I wasn't happy with.
