Re: Gurley maybe got hot, but O line plays as a unit

The Rams O line is such a beautiful set up for playing against a 3-4. Noteboom and BLythe know exactly what assignment they have, execute it, and the Rams O line always seem to know what split second decisions to make during the play. THey are very, very smart, and I suspect that McVay's genius is more with the O line than Goff...yes, really. The Panthers really never had a chance on defense to 'turn' a play. When the Rams get in-sync, and Goff knows what to do, they might kill every 3-4 team. Noteboom is Kent Hill without the 500 lbs of bench pressing power. Noteboom is smooth---his hockey skills helped his footwork I am sure.

I do think the Rams will have trouble against 4-3 teams (especially teams with 2 powerful DTs like the Bears) with Blythe and NOteboom on run downs. I watched Noteboom every play---he almost never had anyone line up over him; he was in double team or helper mode on almost every single snap.. When that happens, he is the perfect guard for that situation--so athletic, smart, balanced and long arms for a guard. Having someone head up over Noteboom will happen next week, and I wonder if he can handle it in the run game with in line blocking---which the Rams rarely do it seems.

Allen, short armed, maybe not so strong, but he is smart and I think will become more than serviceable center...it is a drop in the bucket when the Rams draft a 3rd-4th round O line man--ya, Kromer is ery good, but more because Rams focus on intelligence at the O line position, and fit their draftee to their system.
