ya, i'm still trying to digest this one.
i'm a fan of higbee's. i like what i've seen of him. and i've thought he could contribute more than he has, through no fault of his own. more because mcvay and goff have some many other options.
i think the other options have actually gotten better, particularly in depth. kupp's back, brown's back. reynolds, thomas, webster. henderson. even mundt looks improved.
i think higbee is capable of delivering at least 7.5M of performance a year. i just don't see how mcvay and goff spread the ball around enough to get 7.5M a year of value out of him for 2 or 4 years given all the other offensive weapons.
i would have held the cap space back in reserve to deal with the coming loss of whitworth in case edwards or noteboom don't solve that problem.
maybe this means te will be more prominent in the offense or they have a high confidence level in the bench strength behind whitworth.
i look forward to how this plays out. snead-mcvay are always interesting....
