THE GSOT was crazy, exciting and short lived! 99-01 was the most exhilarating football i have ever witnessed We caught lightning in a bottle, unfortunately someone dropped the bottle! After 3 years of glory, the bottle started showing cracks!
Fast forward to 2017 and the hiring of Sean McVay has ushered in the start of a new era of Rams football! The reason I think we “might” be heading into a dynasty mirrors the reasons the GSOT was short lived - Ownership and the FO. GSOT had poor ownership and a dysfunctional FO. Our current owner, Kroenke, and FO, Demoff & Snead, look about has stable as they come. They had the insight and the marbles to hire McVay. There as been much written about McVay’s impressive ability as an OC, which is well deserved. However, we have seen countless OC’s & DC’s that did not make great HC’s. Why has McVay succeeded? I think because he is an exceptional leader! He is a hard guy not to like as well as respect. He is someone people follow.
With a great Owner in Kroenke and excellent FO and young, mature HC and an excellent roster I only have one question to answer before I’m personally convinced we are in for a long run of sustained excellence. How does McVay lead our team after a SB Lose? Personally I think the “SB Hangover” is real. Over the past 10 years (I think) only 2 teams that have lost a SB have gone on the win it, the Pats and Bronces. Seattle has not been back, neither has the Panthers or the Falcons. Out of these three, only Seattle looks legit, at least in my opinion. If we make the playoffs I will be thankful, it we win the West, which I think we can, I will be very impressed.
At this point I think we win the West. If we host a 1st round game, I think we win it. After that the climb will only get steeper.
Let the games begin!
