I agree and here's a couple reasons why:
1.) Joseph-Day and Gaines are playing NT this year, not Suh. Suh played the run on his way to the QB and wasn't committed to his role on this defense until the playoffs. Joseph-Day and Gaines seem to understand that if they play the run first (and occupy 2 blockers in the process) they are doing their jobs. Sure, get a tackle when you can, collapse the pocket when it's a pass ... but these guys are run-stoppers and they know it. I think that will show up in the results.
2.) The Rams will deploy an actual Mike at ILB this season. Last year Littleton was playing out of position at Mike 'backer while Barron played the Mo 'backer. This season, with Littleton at Mo and Hagar at Mike the Rams will have an ILB more suited to run defense than they had last year. Granted, Hagar will come out in most sub packages, but he'll be in there when down-and-distance indicate run and the interior run D should improve as a result.
